Los Angeles Galaxy lose to LD Alajuelense at the most hostile location in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Costa-Rica-c2877 – CCL News
Major League Soccer franchise http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/LD-Alajuelense-c39776 this time who defeated the Galaxy 1-0 at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto on Wednesday, September 20.
The MLS team was up against three opponents in the game: Alajuelense, the hostile crowd and the uneven field. After scoring the lone goal of the game in the 28th minute, the home team played defensively. They wasted time on throw-ins, took more
than usual time in substitutions and took to the ground on minimal contact.
The referees, according to some Los Galacticos players, were put under pressure by the intimidating crowd.
“They were loud, they were cheering. They definitely helped them out by getting on the refs. A couple of times I don’t think the ref knew anything of the calls,” said midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mike-Magee-c25704.
La Liga spectators were the most unfriendly presence Galaxy had ever seen before. The Manudos fans called the visiting players obscene names and threw everything that could fly over the fence.
The hostility started before the match when the Galaxy team bus arrived at the site. The crowd blocked the road and directed obscene gestures at the guests. The same jeers continued during the match.
“That atmosphere was insane,” Magee said. “The field was bumpy and not ideal, but we didn’t create any chances. You can’t win games if you don’t create chances.”
The Galaxy had a strong offence as compared to the Costa Ricans but artificial bumpy turf was a big obstacle. The unusual bounce made it hard for the Americans to control it. The home team, on the other hand, had the situation under control.
According to defender AJ DeLaGarza, however, it was an ideal opportunity for the MLS team to prove its mettle in a tough environment.
“It’s something that we kind of thrive on as a pro,” DeLaGarza said. “We like to play in front of venues like this. The crowd was loud. You could barely hear the person next to you. It was a great atmosphere. This is where we should shine.”
As things stand, Galaxy’s progression to the next round depends on the result against Monarcos http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Morelia-c39950 at The Home Depot Center.
