Los Angeles Galaxy youngsters prove resolute against Manchester City – World Football Challenge

When the game is more difficult, we work on things like counterattack and, overall, I think we did fine.”
Los Galacticos are to take part in the CONCACAF Champions League and Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in addition to the regular MLS season, and the squad needed a run out prior to the busy schedule.
The three-game-a-week schedule ahead called for some drastic steps and the management needed to utilize all the players in the roster. Unlike against Real Madrid at LA Memorial Coliseum, the fresh faces did not disappoint and kept the second half scoreless. Head Coach Bruce Arena admitted the good play of his youngsters.
“I saw a little bit more today than I did in the game against Madrid,” Arena said. “We’re going to have to be playing three games a week for an extended period of time. We need to go deep into our roster and have to play around 18 players. There was some indication that there are some players we can use, which is a positive.”
Besides registering playing time to their accounts, the friendly was a great platform for young players to play against the holding FA Cup champions. For McBean in particular, it was a whole new experience playing against stars he follows on television week-in, week-out.
