Los Angeles Kings, Fans celebrate first ever Stanley Cup championship -NHL Update
The city of Los Angeles, California, is definitely abuzz at the moment with the Kings Stanley Cup celebrations and fans are not holding back in any case to savour the moment of having won their first hockey championship in history.
This is certainly a huge moment for the loyal fans that have given everything to the Kings franchise and now is the time that they are awarded by the team for their loyalty. Players like Willie Mitchell also got their first career championship and could
not be any happier.
"I just had the reflection moment where I was actually by myself," Mitchell said. "You have your teammates right next to you … but you can't really talk because it's so loud. You actually have that moment of reflection where it's like, ‘Oh my God, this is
a Stanley Cup parade' and the people and looking at how excited everyone is. And then you're like, ‘Holy [cow]!' We did do this. Inside, you're just like, butterflies. You feel it in your eyes."
"I knew we would get here someday," said 61-year-old Kings fan, Margie Fabele.
The Kings team celebrated the Stanley Cup with their city’s Major League Baseball (MLB) team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, during a baseball game along. They also marched through the streets of downtown Los Angeles with fans arriving early in the morning and
awaiting their team’s parade down the road.
Confetti and music blanketed the whole city with fans going wild with joy and players just surprised at the turnout.
Los Angeles is certainly not new to championship celebrations as the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA), have had more than their fair share of raising the cup. But for the Los Angeles Kings of the hockey world, this is a first
for them and their fans, a moment they never want to end.
When all celebrations come to an end, the next NHL regular season will be definitely one that everyone associated with the Kings club be looking forward to as Los Angeles will now fight to defend their Stanley Cup and their honour.
