Los Angeles Kings, Phoenix Coyotes keeping same strategy heading into Finals -NHL Playoffs Update
Los Angeles Kings and Phoenix Coyotes are geared up to head into the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Western Conference Playoff Finals full of confidence, but as strange as it may sound, both teams are heading in with the same strategies they
had in the previous round.
Both teams also belong to the same Pacific Division and it was the Coyotes that took the title near the end of the regular season to enter as the third place seed while Los Angeles Kings stand at number eight but have come a long way.
"They're a similar hockey team to what we are," Phoenix centre Boyd Gordon said. "It's the same kind of style. They have great goaltending and they're strong on the back. They've got some skill guys that can put the puck in the net. You look at that team
and you see our team. Both teams will be both disciplined and physical."
Working with emotion and heart, Kings and Coyotes are focused on working towards their ultimate goal of advancing into the Stanley Cup Finals by giving it all they have got instead of focusing on complex strategies.
"Tactically, I don't think they changed a lot," Phoenix Coyotes head coach, Dave Tippett "You see their team and it looks like they just play with more emotion, and that kind of changed as it went on.”
Mike Smith and Jonathan Quick are the goalies that everyone will have their eyes on and basically, there is no real strategy on how a person can be a good goalie. It just takes heart and dedication, which is something both players have used to get this far.
Phoenix, being a more defensive based team, will probably need to adjust to the more offensive play of the Los Angeles Kings while boosting their firepower at the same time, but Coyotes are confident that the way they have been playing up until now is more
than enough to tackle the Kings.
Seeing how this series will bring out the Western Conference champion out and ready to tackle on the Eastern side for a Stanley Cup, it will definitely be exciting to see who manages to come out on top.
