Los Angeles Kings’ Stanley Cup winning captain Dustin Brown brings the cup to his hometown
Los Angeles Kings’ captain and left-winger, Dustin Brown, who has been most loyal to the team as he has played for them but no one else since he made his debut for them nine years back, was paid a prize for his loyalty as the team won their first Stanley
Cup since it was founded in 1967.
The franchise got its holy grail for the first time in 45 years, a trophy that is wanted more than anything else in this field of the sport. It is not only the biggest prize for players, captains, coaches and owners but also for the fans.
And those fans got a chance to touch and feel that prize the other day as Dustin Brown took the cup to his hometown.
There were more than 800 people, which included youngsters, children, old men, women and people of all ages and different backgrounds just to touch that trophy and get a picture with it. The weather was not as good as they would have preferred but still
nobody wanted to miss the lifetime opportunity.
Brown, who coordinated the event with former Ithaca high athletics director, Bill Bryant, was very happy with the amount of people who came despite the rain and bad weather. He said that he did not expect it to go as smoothly as they thought and it was an
opportunity for all these people to see and touch the cup. Brown said,
"The turnout was great, especially considering the weather. There was a lot of planning during the week, and I really didn't expect that it would run as smoothly as we'd hoped it would. But it's more about getting the opportunity for all these people to
see the Cup and to kind of get as many people through as possible in the short amount of time we have."
The event was actually a kind of charity event as it was also held in order to raise the funds for those soldiers of U.S armed forces who are suffering in wars. It was also done to take care of their families and dependents that they leave behind.
Cpl. Christopher Bordoni was Brown’s wife’s first cousin, the U.S army officer who died after suffering injuries in Afghanistan.
