Los Angeles Kings already sold season 15,000 season tickets; close to a sell out –NHL Update
After winning the Stanley Cup, the Los Angeles Kings have naturally become a much more popular side among their fans and have become even bigger heroes in the eyes of them so their fans do not want to take any risk of leaving it till the final moment to
get tickets for the games.
Los Angeles Kings have already sold more than 15,000 season tickets for the upcoming season, which means that now only 3,000 tickets are up for grabs.
Total capacity of their home-ice, Staples Center, is just a little more than 18,000 so selling 15,000 tickets means that they have already sold more than 80%, according to Los Angeles Kings’ chief operating officer, Chris McGowan.
McGowan said on Friday that ticket sales have been brisk and they are getting to a point where they are getting short of tickets. They are even thinking about stoping the sale of tickets because they are afraid that they may get capped out. McGowan said,
"Ticket sales have been really, really brisk. We're getting to a point where organizationally, it's all about managing inventory. We're getting slim in terms of availability. Season-ticket wise, we're in a position where we're going to stop selling season
tickets because we're going to be capped out”.
This is something which is a good sign for Los Angeles Kings but for fans it is very disappointing to run out of tickets so they also have to take care of those individual ticket buyers and fans who cannot afford full season tickets and there are many other
people who they have to take care of as McGowan further added,
"The season-ticket base would be so high where we wouldn't have an ability to sell any more. We have to take care of partial-plan holders, and we want to keep (tickets) for group ticket sales and individual buyers when we go on sale."
Los Angeles Kings made history last season when they won their first Stanley Cup in history of the franchise since it was established in 1967. They managed to qualify for the Stanley Cup as they occupied the last berth by finishing at the 8th
spot in the regular season.
Los Angeles, California, based side never looked back after qualifying as they ousted Vancouver Canucks in Quarterfinal, St. Louis Blues in Semi-Finals and Phoenix Coyotes in the conference final before beating New Jersey Devils in finals to win the title.
