Los Angeles Kings coach Darryl Sutter getting accustomed to California Life -NHL Update
Moving from the snowy streets of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to the year-long warm weather of Los Angeles, California, might need some time getting accustomed to, but head coach of the Kings club, Darryl Sutter, is rather having a good time doing so.
Going from taking the Calgary Flames to the Stanley Cup Finals back in 2004, then practically failing to keep the team on top during his tenure as general manager, to now getting a team like Los Angeles back in the race truly requires dedication, and Sutter
is the man that has proven he is the one to do it.
From nearly having yet another failed National Hockey League (NHL) regular season to now being the favourites in the race for the cup, Darryl Sutter has had remarkable success in Southern California thus far. And fans could not be happier.
Leading a team to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 1993, when Wayne Gretzky used to be on the squad, Darryl Sutter has proved Kings’ general manager, Dean Lombardi’s decision to be a very good one indeed.
"I talked to my family last summer, my wife and my kids, about if we ever did go back that we would be very selective," said Sutter. "We weren't going back just to go back. That was really important. And, so obviously this was one of those places because
of Dean."
With his family still back home in Canada, Darryl Sutter has diverted all his attention to hockey and making sure his team is the best in the league.
"I came in the middle of the year and it's crazy," Sutter said. "If there is one thing about going somewhere to work when you're family is not with you, you spend all your time at work."
So far, everything has been working out in Sutter’s way. Being such an experienced coach is really helping the Los Angeles Kings’ squad ever since they separated with long time coach, Terry Murray.
Players are confident, fans are happy and the management is even more optimistic, making this a golden opportunity for Darryl Sutter to work his magic and prove his worth even further.
