Los Angeles Kings eliminate St. Louis Blues in Game 4 -NHL Playoffs Update
Los Angeles Kings made history and are looking forward to breaking new barriers as they whitewashed second seeded St. Louis Blues, 3-1, with their fourth straight victory in Game 4 of the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Western Conference Playoff
Semi-Finals.
The last time Kings got through to the Western Conference Finals was over 19 years ago when NHL legend, Wayne Gretzky, was on the squad but the team is extremely confident and ready to make a run for the Stanley Cup championship.
Kings would also set another record by becoming the first eighth seed in NHL history to hoist the cup if they do.
"We knew we had all the ingredients in here to make something special happen, and it's coming together," Kings forward, Jarrett Stoll, said. "But we're only halfway there. We got a long ways to go yet.”
Los Angeles is totally excited and the fans showed how enthusiastic they were as the STAPLES Center roard with joy on Sunday night, May 6, 2012.
"You heard the rink today, how loud it was," said Kings’ goaltending, Jonathan Quick. "It means a lot more to (the fans) than it does to us. It's a great deal, a big push, by us to win four in a row against a team like that. They were great all series long
... but you heard the fans, how loud they were the last two minutes there. It gives you goose bumps."
Jordan Nolan kicked off the scoring with his first of the postseason 4:36 into the matchup followed by an equaliser from St. Louis’ Kevin Shattenkirk.
Dustin Brown broke the tie with less than two minutes remaining in the first period with his fifth goal of the playoffs.
He came up big again in the third period to secure the contest at 19:34 on an empty net as Blues looked to tie the contest but failed on all ends completely, giving up the series in four games straight.
Kings will now be waiting to see who comes out to be the winner in the Phoenix Coyotes-Nashville Predators semi-final series and with that extra time are sure to study each team that could come in their way.
