Los Angeles Kings eyeing Stanley Cup, New Jersey Devils hoping for comeback in Game 4 -NHL Preview
All odds might be in favour of the Los Angeles Kings to take their first Stanley Cup championship come Game 4 but hockey gurus are not ruling out the New Jersey Devils as both teams gear up to meet in what might be the last game of the series.
Kings have a dominating 3-0 lead in the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Final series at the moment and if history plays out the way it should, fans will be gathering out in downtown Los Angeles to celebrate their first championship in franchise
history.
Los Angeles’ players know that winning the Stanley Cup is just an inch away, but they are definitely not going to go in taking the Devils for granted. They know bouncing back is always a possibility so treating it like they are on the brink of elimination
is something the Kings are doing.
"It's right there in front of us, but we know there's one more step," Kings’ captain, Dustin Brown, said Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the Kings' training complex. "We don't want to trip now."
"There's a lot at the end there to look forward to, if we play the right way," LA’s Jarret Stoll said. "I'm sure we'll talk a lot about it the next day and a half to get ready, making sure we're playing the right way, having the right attitude. Can't get
too excited, look too far ahead. You have to stay in the moment and play the game."
Devils’ top performers are yet to come out of the box in this series as they have been unable to make a significant impact thus far. Ilya Kovalchuk and captain Zach Parise need to step up for New Jersey if they hope to see another game.
New Jersey has never been swept in four games, ever. They need to maintain their reputation of being a team that at least fights back but Los Angeles Kings are just too hot at the moment.
Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals kicks off on Wednesday night, June 6, 2012, at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California.
