Los Angeles Kings get pumped acquiring Columbus Blue Jackets superstar Jeff Carter -NHL Update
Home is where the heart is for Jeff Carter who has moved for the second time this 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season, now a part of the Los Angeles Kings in surprising trade with Columbus Blue Jackets, it seems the player will finally
feel easy around a number of familiar players.
The trade was announced on Thursday, February 23, 2012, in which Columbus sent of Jeff Carter, after less than a year of having him since the previous offseason, in exchange for defenseman, Jack Johnson, along with a conditional first-round pick.
Columbus’ first-round pick is condition in the sense that it is bound by both players passing their physical tests with new teams along with it being either in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft or the one following.
Most would consider it to be prior to the February 27 trade deadline, but others consider it to be purely due to the need of the moment and requirement of the future.
"This isn't your classic Trade Deadline deal," Los Angeles Kings General Manager, Dean Lombardi, said in a conference call Thursday night. "This is a good young player for a good young player. This is a hockey deal."
Jeff Carter, a 27-year-old centre from London, Ontario, Canada, was in his first seasons with Columbus after six straight with Philadelphia Flyers. He will be rejoining Mike Richards, a former teammate of his who was also traded from Flyers in the offseason,
along with a number of other players that will surely help him break the ice.
"I am obviously excited," Carter told the Kings' official website. "I am familiar with the team and a lot of guys on the team. I looked at the Kings at the start of the year as being a club in a good position to win. I look forward to coming to L.A. and
being a part of it all."
Carter has so far played in 39 games this season and has 25 points (15 goals, 10 assists), but not really seeing the momentum of a superstar, it was but normal that he was to be traded off.
