Los Angeles Kings host San Jose Sharks at Staples Centre on Thursday – NFL playoffs, game 4 preview
Los Angeles Kings will host San Jose Sharks in the fourth game of the Western Conference quarter-final at the Staples Centre on Thursday.
It has so far been a closely contested series between the two sides. The Sharks won the first game in overtime while the Kings won the second game convincingly with a shutout performance. The third game was again a very close one that had to be decided in
overtime where the Sharks managed to win 6-5 and now they lead the series 2-1.
The game three defeat was no ordinary loss for the Kings as it is the worst defeat that the team has suffered during the postseason. They were sitting comfortably as they had established a 4-0 lead at the start of the second period. However, the Sharks showed
that they are one of the best offensive teams when they scored goals at regular intervals to level the scores. The game went into overtime where the Sharks scored through Devin Setoguchi to win 6-5 in the end.
The important thing that the Kings need to do is that they need to forget what happened in the last game and concentrate on what is coming up. If they fail to do so then they have a lot of trouble coming their way that may ultimately result in their elimination.
The Kings were left stunned at the end of the last game when they let a comfortable and game winning lead slip from their hands. They need to move forward and do better as they aim to win only the second series in the history of the franchise. The last time
they did this was in the 1993 season that saw them going all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals.
“You can't be down. That was yesterday,” defenseman Matt Greene said. “Tomorrow is a new game. It's a seven-game series for a reason. You've got to move on, past these letdowns. If you dwell on this, you're not going to do yourself any favors. We'll come
back and we've got to win a game.”
The Sharks came up with a splendid performance in the last game to overturn a four-goal deficit to win in the end. The Sharks defence was by no means what it should have been. However, this was accommodated by the brilliance in the department of offence
that saw them scoring goals every now and then.
Setoguchi struck the final blow in the overtime to win the game for the Sharks. The Sharks wrote their names in the history to become only the fourth team to make a comeback after trailing by four goals to win a playoff game.
“It was obviously a pretty exciting game for everybody, pretty emotional,” Setoguchi said. “Coming back from four goals is something that doesn't happen very often, especially in the playoffs. We worked hard and it feels pretty good.”
Both the teams are pretty much in the balance and both have an equal chance of winning. Let’s see how this game turns out to be.
