Los Angeles Kings look to stay perfect, Phoenix Coyotes hopeful for comeback -NHL Playoffs Preview
Los Angeles are expecting to put Phoenix on the verge of elimination come Game 3 of the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Western Conference Playoff Finals while Coyotes have it tough but are still hopeful of a comeback against Kings on foreign
territory.
Kings are in the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 1993 and are fully determined to head into the Stanley Cup Finals as well by staying perfect and continuing to shatter each and every record.
Los Angeles defenders are just doing a great job no doubt as they continue to limit Phoenix offensive players to just a little over 25 shots in the past two matchups while having over 80 attempts of their own on Mike Smith.
Jonathan Quick can be termed to be the best goalie in the postseason as of now with his 49 of 51 shots saved performance.
"For the most part we did a great job of keeping a lot of the chances to the outside, clearing out rebounds and stuff like that," Quick said after Game 2. "When they needed me, I was able to make the save."
Being down 2-0 with two losses at home and needing to rebound on the other team’s turf is never easy but Phoenix Coyotes are determined to play around that factor. Another thing to their disadvantage is Phoenix will be missing Martin Hanzal for Game 3 due
to a boarding major on Dustin Brown in Game 2.
Coyotes could have lost captain, Shane Doan, as well, but the NHL voted against it despite the game misconduct.
"Frustration can't get the better of us," Coyotes coach, Dave Tippett, said. "Sometimes people expect us to come out and dominate the game, but that's not going to happen. We're a team that hangs around the game and we find a way to win. The frustration
of not being able to do that in the first two games certainly was evident. We need to get back to playing the way we can, playing our style and find a way to win."
Game 3 between Los Angeles Kings and Phoenix Coyotes kicks off on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the STAPLES Center at 9:00 PM ET.
