Los Angeles Kings looking forward to exciting Game 7 against San Jose Sharks – NHL Playoffs Update
A Game 7 competition is not something that everyone has had the chance to experience in the National Hockey League (NHL). Most may consider it to just be another game in the playoffs, but when it comes down to that final matchup, nothing in the games prior
to it matter anymore as it comes down to just those 60 minutes which will decide everything.
The Los Angeles Kings swept the 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs and took home the trophy against New Jersey Devils for the first time ever. They know how hard it is to get to where they were just a year back and want to do it all over again, but being up against
the San Jose Sharks, it definitely will not be easy.
“I got blood under my skin just like a Canadian,” LA’s Anze Kopitar said according to NHL.com. “I don't think it's any different over in Europe either. Everybody wants to be in these types of games, and you want to raise the level of play and eventually
you want to be the hero in these types of games. It's going to take a great effort [Tuesday], and we're looking forward to it.”
Everyone comes into the matchup wanting to be a winner, but thinking about that chance of losing just makes most players sick to their stomachs and unable to focus on the match ahead.
“You always remember what it feels like to lose,” Kings captain Dustin Brown added. “You almost have to lose before you learn how to win. It's a motivating factor. When you have that feeling, it stays with you, and vice versa.”
Los Angeles had put San Jose on the verge of elimination ever since they whitewashed them in Game 5, 3-0, but the Sharks were not going to give up that easily and came back in Game 6 with a 2-1 victory, forcing Game 7.
For now, all eyes are on both Californian teams to see which will end up as the winner and move on to the 2013 NHL Western Conference Stanley Cup Finals to face either the Chicago Blackhawks or Detroit Red Wings.
Game 7 is on Tuesday at the STAPLES Center at 9 PM ET.
