Los Angeles Kings need to take advantage of home-ice in Game 6 –NHL Stanley Cup Special
It is certainly hard on the coach when a team has won three straight games in the National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Finals and gives up two back-to-back. But Los Angeles Kings’ Darryl Sutter is confident going into Game 6 against New Jersey Devils,
which is not something that can also be said for the players.
New Jersey Devils found a spark in Game 4 and 5 which has boosted the teams hopes and spirits by manifolds and has put Los Angeles on the edge in terms of losing all the momentum that had built up from eliminated Vancouver Canucks in the quarterfinals.
Along with distractions, the Los Angeles Kings are going to zoom out of everything for the upcoming game and are determined to focus on just the game ahead and only that. Game 6 is at home at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California, and not winning
that will be fatal to their Stanley Cup run.
"We don't want any distractions. I think a lot of us before Game 4 were distracted with family members and friends, the Cup coming in the building," Kings’ defenseman, Drew Doughty, said on Sunday. "A lot of things we have to put aside. Family always comes
first for everyone, but at this point of the year, the team has to come first. We're a family in the room, on the ice. Right now, we're No. 1 in everyone's mind."
"It is part of the whole situation, but it also part of being a professional to put that aside and focus on what you need to do to help this team win," Los Angeles’ captain, Dustin Brown added.
Most of the players on the Kings squad are yet to celebrate a hockey championship including some veteran players like Willie Micthell. It is not easy seeing your team now nearly levelled with the other (3-2) but it is something they will have to face with
confidence and concentration.
Limiting their distractions to those which are out of their control is the only realistic and practical way to approach the situation since there are no magic wands or spells against the New Jersey Devils.
Los Angeles Kings will now just have to play like they did against Vancouver Canucks, Western Conference’s second seed St. Louis Blues and Phoenix Coyotes in the finals.
Game 6 kicks off at 8:00 PM EDT.
