Los Angeles Kings prove credentials as potential Stanley Cup winners-NFL News
Los Angeles Kings’ win in the opening game of the Western Conference Finals series against Phoenix Coyotes has all of sudden turned odds into their favour, and the team now remains at forefront of a majority of analyses on the prospective Stanley Cup winners.
The Coyotes attempted to get themselves excused for the sluggish start to their Conference Finals campaign, which resulted in the 2-4 loss for them, but it was no way an out of a chance victory for Kings.
Even if some commentators believe the strong optimism of Coyotes that they will be back in the competition from very next game, Kings are seen proving their credentials not only for the Conference Finals win, but for the Stanley Cup.
They were even better in the second game of the series, played on Tuesday, May 15.
Kings’ 4-2 win, similar to their first victory, ruined the opposition’s dreams of a comeback. Coyotes are now down 0-2 in the seven-game series.
With these two victories, Kings have gained much needed confidence to consolidate their lead consistently as the series progresses.
Also, the performance reflects that they have sorted out their problems down the stretch, and performing consistently well should not be very difficult task for them.
One the most notable and impressive marks in the Kings’ form is the mix of Jordan Nolan and Dwight King.
The pair, who was added to the side on a same day as a cover for injuries in February this year, has served to the team’s need whenever required.
Kings’ centre, Anze Kopitar, assesses the talent as saying:
"Well, obviously really well. They got called up in a pretty tough spot where we weren't scoring goals. I think the first game they played, they were playing with Mike (Richards) on the second line. It's not the easiest thing to do, just to come in and be
depended on for a lot of minutes, try to score goals. I think things settled down for us and they've been playing great for us."
Also, it looks from Kings’ performance that the team has come out to face off their opposition with a plan.
Their strategies to ply and utilise the talent and skills of players like the Nolan-King pair is particularly impressive.
