Los Angeles Kings snap four-game slide shutting out Chicago Blackhawks 4-0 -NHL Update
Los Angeles put Chicago right back into line as the Kings snapped their four-game losing streak by shutting out Blackhawks, 4-0, Saturday night, February 25, 2012, at the sold-out STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California.
Its seems like having newly acquired superstar forward, Jeff Carter, in the line-up made the difference in momentum for the team as they have not showed such an obliterating performance for quite a while.
Kings are now tied for the final playoff spot with Dallas Stars at 68 points, making the upcoming days extremely crucial as a number of teams continue to fight for that ever so important position with the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season close to ending.
The Los Angeles defenders did an amazing job by keeping the Chicago offence to a limited 19 shot attempts on their goalie, Jonathan Quick, who blocked all chances, while Blackhawks shifted goalies after some disappointing tries to divert the puck.
Dustin Brown, Los Angeles's veteran right winger, scored the first three goals of the night, back-to-back, to show his dedication towards the Western Conference club after rumours that they were looking to trade him before the February 27th deadline.
"I've been a King my whole career," Brown said. "I expect to be a King beyond the next few days. For me, personally, I probably said this yesterday with all the rumours flying around, it's my responsibility to prepare myself to be the best I can and tonight I felt good."
Willie Mitchell capped the scoring with LA's 4th goal at 6:49 of the second period.
"Things went well for me tonight, and I hope to build on it," Brown added. "I think we've been struggling as a team. I've been struggling personally to score goals, and it definitely felt good to score some goals."
Los Angeles is now favourites for the upcoming games as they seem very charged up.
Kings have the next against Nashville Predators on the road on Monday.
Chicago on the other hand, will definitely be looking to come back against Anaheim Ducks when they face them before returning home on Wednesday.
