Los Angeles Kings thrash Colorado Avalanche 5-0
The Los Angeles Kings maintained their impressive run on the road by thrashing the Colorado Avalanche 5-0 at the Pepsi Centre. Jonathan Quick blocked 23 shots in goal, while Dustin Brown scored twice and provided two assists to set up the win for the Kings.
The home side made a decent start to the match and created a couple of chances to take the lead. However some poor finishing up front cost them dearly, as the Kings took control of the game.
On the other hand, the away side combined well together, and each player was aware of his role in the team. That meant that the Kings were comfortable in both attack and defence, and eventually scored in the 13th minute.
Rob Scuderi broke the deadlock from a brilliant backhand shot. The period ended with the Los Angeles Kings leading 1-0. During the course of the period, the Los Angeles Kings made nine goal attempts compared to the Avalanche’s seven.
The Los Angeles Kings carried their good form into the second period. They continued to press on in search of another goal, and their determination paid off when they successfully scored in the seventh minute to double their lead. Brad Richardson scored
from a spectacular long range strike to make things more comfortable for the Kings.
Both teams had many more chances to score during the remainder of the period, but despite making numerous goal attempts neither team was able to score. The period ended with Los Angeles leading 2-0. The Kings had 10 goal attempts in the second period, while
the Colorado Avalanche made eight goal attempts.
The final 20 minutes of the match were totally dominated by the Kings, who peppered the opposition goal from the start, and didn’t give the home team any space to work. The Kings successfully scored in the eighth minute to take the score to 3-0. The goal
was scored by Dustin Brown, who scored once again in the 16th minute to make it 4-0. Justin Williams sealed the win with a goal in the 18th minute for the Los Angeles Kings, as they won the match 5-0.
