Los Angeles Kings thrash San Jose Sharks 4-0
The Los Angeles Kings scored four goals in the final period once Trevor Lewis opened the scoring, and goalie Jonathan Quick made 24 saves, to lead the Kings to a 4-0 victory over the San Jose Sharks.
The first period saw both teams starting with an attacking mentality, and creating a number of goal-scoring opportunities. The Sharks looked the stronger of the two teams towards the end of the opening quarter. The hosts also put together a number of slick
moves, but were unable to break the deadlock. The teams went into the break with the score at nil-nil. During the course of the period, the San Jose Sharks made six goal attempts, while the Los Angeles Kings made 16 goal attempts.
The second period was no different from the previous 20 minutes of play. The San Jose Sharks were again the dominating force in the period, with more goal attempts. They had several scoring chances, but were let down by some poor finishing. On the other
hand, the home team also had chances of their own, but they too couldn’t convert them. The second period also ended goalless. During the 20 minutes of play, the Los Angeles Kings made 14 goal attempts compared to the San Jose Sharks eight goal attempts.
The first two period’s dominance was converted into goals in the final period. The away side scored in the third minute to take the lead through Trevor Lewis. The Kings then continued to attack, and scored once again in the very next minute to double their
lead. The goal was scored by Marco Sturm.
The Los Angeles Kings were however determined to extend their lead further and dominate the game a bit more. They scored their third goal in the seventh minute of the final period to go 3-nil up. The goal was scored by Dustin Brown, who also scored the final
goal of the match in the 18th minute from a backhand shot. The match and the period ended with the Los Angeles Kings winning the match 4-0. Jonathan Quick was named the star selection of the match, as he made 24 goal attempts.
