Los Angeles Kings through to conference finals, await next opponent -NHL Playoffs Update
Los Angeles Kings are through to the National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Western Conference Playoff Finals for the first time since 1993 and are definitely pumped up to go all the way this time around.
Kings have definitely surprised this year as they broke out by eliminated 2011 Stanley Cup finalists, the Vancouver Canucks, in just five games and now swept the West’s second seeded team, St. Louis Blues, in four games.
They never took time off, never stopped working hard and are still looking forward to each and every game like it is their last, which makes Los Angeles the favourites going into the Western Conference Finals.
Taking down two big opponents like it was a piece of cake, Los Angeles Kings are now determined for the next round and await their opponent.
Nashville Predators and Phoenix Coyotes are still fighting it out in the Semi-Finals in which the latter leads the series 3-1. Phoenix is most probably the team that will take the series and be facing Los Angeles in the conference finals.
Whoever may come, Los Angeles Kings are prepared and determined to play even better for a chance at the Stanley Cup, which has now become a real possibility.
"It doesn't matter to us," defenseman, Drew Doughty, said. "We're fully confident in this room that we can beat either team. Both of them are unbelievable teams and it's going to be a battle, that's for sure."
Los Angeles Kings’ head coach, Darryl Sutter, revolutionised a team which at one point seemed to be way out of the playoff race with Terry Murray heading the club but entering as the final seed at number eight and coming all the way to the finals is certainly an achievement worth praising.
Even St. Louis Blues were bent on complimenting the team for playing outstanding hockey and certainly showing them their weak points.
"L.A. plays the way you have to play to win the Cup now," Blues’ coach, Ken Hitchcock, said. "They play the game the right way. I'm sure they've had stumbles along the way to figure it out. But it looks to me like they've figured it out."
Seeing Los Angeles Kings hoisting the cup this year will certainly not be surprising looking at how they have been playing so far and with the next competition against either Predators or Coyotes, this year, the playoffs just get even more exciting with each passing moment.
