Los Angeles Kings win 3-2 against the Minnesota Wildto get ahead and leave Wild at 70 points

The final game of Thursday was played at the Staples Arena as the home team, Los Angeles Kings played host to the Minnesota Wild.
Both the teams were tied on points at 70 each in the Western Conference and a win would be crucial for either of the teams as it would put them out of the bunch of teams that are very close.
The Kings came up with quite a performance that saw them finishing the first period in the lead.
However, both teams' strong offensive approach resulted in the second period ending with the scores level.
The final period saw the Kings scoring once again which saw them winning the game 3-2 in the end.
Drew Doughty of the Kings was named the star of the game for scoring the winning goal.
A few early goal attempts, the Wild were on the back foot. The shots they came up with early on were by no means goal threatening. The Kings on the other hand waited for a couple of minutes after which they started to come up with attacks and some brilliant
plays.
The Kings came across a power play after the first half of the period. The home team used it to the fullest as they scored in the 14th minute through Wayne Simmonds to get into the lead.
The period saw the Kings coming up with quite a few shots but no further goals were scored.
The period saw the Kings leading 1-0 going into the break as they made 13 goal attempts in the period while the Wild made just six.
The second saw both teams a little better and stronger on the offence. The Wild with some splendid passing and play-making scored through Eric Nystrom from a flick shot to level the scores in the fifth minute.
The Kings responded to this with some decent attacking abilities which saw them scoring in the 11th minute to get back in the lead. The goal was scored by Wayne Simmonds once again from a well placed flick shot.
It looked as of the period would end with the Kings leading but the Wild scored with just five seconds of play left to level the scores. The goal was scored by Brent Burns during power play from a superb strike.
The final period started with the Kings very strong and scored in the 5th minute through Drew Doughty to get into the lead once again. The period was mainly defence dominated which saw both the teams restrict the other team to their own half.
Anze Kopitar also chipped in with a goal in the 19th minute to double the Kings lead. The goal was scored by through a brilliant flick shot.
Though there were several more shots on goal but they were from long range.
The period and the game ended with the Kings winning the game 4-2 in the end.
The final 20 minutes of play saw the Kings making 5 goal attempts while the Wild made 8 goal attempts.
