Los Angeles Kings wins 2-1 against the Detroit Red Wings in an important match for both teams 
The Detroit Red Wings played host to the Los Angeles Kings in another one of Wednesday’s game at the Joe Louis Arena.
This game was more important for the Kings as they were in the eight position in the Western Conference fighting to stay in the play-off cut.
On the other hand, the Red Wings were looking to notch up some important points as they looked to close the gap with the league leaders Vancouver Canucks.
The game began with the Red Wings leading at the end of the first period but the Kings managed to crawl their way back into the game as they scored twice during the second period lead 2-1 as the final period started.
No goals were scored during the final period and the game ended with the Kings winning 2-1 in the end. Jonathan Quick, goal keeper of the Kings was named the star of the game as he made 28 saves during the course of the game.
The Red Wings not only made an excellent start to the game offensive but their defence was superb at the start of the proceedings. With the passage of time things got better for the home team.
They had several chances to score but it was not until the sixth minute that they scored through Darren Helm from a powerful strike.
The Red Wings continued to pile pressure on away side but they weren’t successful in finding the back of the net.
Shots were fired on goal till the very end of the period but no further goals were scored as the period ended with the Red Wings leading 1-0.
During the period, the Red Wings made 11 shots on goal while the Kings were restricted to just three goal attempts during the period.
The second period saw both teams coming up with decent plays at the start of the period but the Kings started to dominate the game as the period progressed.
The Kings resultantly scored in the eighth minute through Anze Kopiter from a well placed flick shot.
The home fans feared the worst looking at the plays that the Kings were constructed.
They were finally silenced as the Kings scored once again in the 15th minute during power play through Dustin Brown’s simple tip in shot.
The period saw a few more shots on goal but no more goals were scored as the period ended with the Kings leading 2-1.
The final period saw both teams matching each other and almost equal in terms of shots on goal with the Kings making 9 shots on goal while the Red Wings made 8 shots on goal.
No goals were scored during the final 20 minutes of play and it was the Kings who won the game 2-1 in the end.
