Los Angeles Kings wins 4-1 against Colorado Avalanche 
The second game of Saturday was played at the Staples Center as Los Angeles Kings hosted and wont the game 4-1 against Colorado Avalanche.
The game was important for the Kings as they looked to move up the standings in the Western Conference which has a heated ongoing play-off battle.
The game began with the Kings stronger on the offence and they were able to capitalize from the start and they scored twice to go ahead by two goals.
The second period saw the Avalanche getting better and better and they scored the lone goal of the period to cut the lead to a single goal.
The final period saw the Kings tightening up the screws once again and they scored two more goals to win the game 4-1 in the end.
Ryan Smyth, winger of Kings, was named the star of the game as he came up with a decent effort that saw him scoring a goal and coming up with an important assist.
Avalanche showed some good individual skills at the start that saw them firing a couple of shots on goal at the start.
However, once the Kings got going it were them who created chances and kept possession of the puck for long time period.
They had several scoring chances before they finally scored in the 11th minute through Willie Mitchell from a powerful strike to get into the lead. The period moved on with both teams continuing to create chances for themselves.
The Kings stepped the pace once again as the end of the period approached and successfully scored in the 18th minute through Michal Handzus during power play to double their lead.
The period ended with the Kings leading 2-0 as the teams went into the break with the Kings making 11 shots on goal while the Avalanche managed five goal attempts.
The second 20 minutes of play saw both teams battling out hard as they knew that neither of the teams was out of the contention for a win as yet.
Avalanche displayed some extravagant passing and shooting early on which saw them in scoring position often.
However, it wasn’t until the 19th minute that the Avalanche scored to cut the lead to single goal.
The goal was scored by Milan Hejduk from a brilliant tip in shot. There were a couple of more shots on goal but no further goals were scored as it was the Kings who were leading 2-1 at the end of the period.
The final 20 minutes of play kicked off with the Kings superb on the offence and they scored in the second minute to double their advantage.
The goal was scored by Ryan Smyth from a brilliant backhand shot. The Kings sealed the game with another goal scored by Trevor Lewis from a simple flick shot.
The period and the game ended with the Kings winning the game 4-1 in the end and strengthening their chances of a play-off spot this spring.
