Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat: NBA teams which will benefit from a shortened season: Part 4
Los Angeles Lakers:
When it comes to experience, Los Angeles Lakers has it in abundance. Six out of the total twelve players in the current team have NBA experience exceeding ten years which has been the reason for team's excellent performances over
the years.
These six players are part of the starting lineup along with Andrew Bynum, the only player who is still in twenties but his problem is the same as that of many others. Since his debut, he has struggled with injuries that have caused
him to stay out of some of the critical games for Lakers.
Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher and Lamar Odom that are amongst the most experienced players in the team are also no strangers to injuries. Kobe’s knee problem has been giving Lakers scares for a while now though I hope it is nothing
alarming, however if it gets serious, this will be a major setback for Lakers.
Lakers championship window just like that of Boston Celtics is closing at a rapid pace with all the aging stars in the team so a shortened season is definitely going to heighten the chances of team doing well as less games would
yield more relaxation time for players.
Old players on the roster coming into court with fresh pair of legs might just be as brilliant as they were when Lakers claimed the title two years back.
Miami Heat:
Miami Heat is blessed with three most outstanding players in the form of James LeBron, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Last season, the exceptional trio led Miami to NBA finals where they eventually chocked.
LeBron was sensational and with his performance, managed to shut mouths of his critics. It was heartbreaking watching Miami in the finals when they got a thrashing from Dallas.
Miami relies too heavily on the trio because apparently, they have the weakest bench in the league. In every game last season, trio accounted for more than 70 percent of scoring which is just astonishing but it poses a threat to
the team as well. In case the trio fails to deliver, team crumbles.
This means if one of the role players amongst three gets injured, Miami offense is deeply affected. A shortened season will help Miami greatly as not only will it reduce the probability of injuries but players will get breaks between
games that will help them to maintain the energy throughout the league.
Let’s say there are 50 games in total this season. Even if Miami manages to win 30-35, in comparison to 50-60 earlier, the trio will enter the next round fully fit and these big match players, we know have ability to win games
on their own when the heat is on.
