Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Golden State Warriors 99-87 - NBA Game Breakdown
The game started with both the Lakers and the Warriors making good on their first possessions. The trend continued and the scores were level at 6-each with 9:38 remaining in the opening period.
Los Angeles Lakers went on a 6-0 run in the next several minutes to get ahead in the game. Golden State Warriors, despite being undermanned, were not fazed at all as they rallied back to tie the scores at 17-all with 5:08 remaining.  On the next several possessions, both teams traded baskets simultaneously and the scores were tied once again at 21.
However the visitors again went on a 9-0 run to get ahead with 1:20 remaining in the opening period. In the final seconds, Warriors were able to get the lead back down to 6.
At the start of the second quarter, Lakers were able to quickly extend their advantage to double figures. The lead got to as big as 17 with 6:38 to go in the second quarter. During that span, Lakers managed to put together a 14-4 run.
The Warriors responded with 7 quick points to get the lead back down to 10 points. In the closing stages of the half, they were able to get the lead down to single digits but the power house the Lakers are, held their nerve to hold an 8 point advantage at the half.
In the second half, LAL were able to get their lead back to double figures with 4 quick points, 2 coming for Metta World Peace and 2 from Andrew Bynum inside the first minute of the third quarter. In the next several minutes, Lakers added 3 more unanswered points, all from the free throw line to get their lead to 15.
The Lakers advantage remained in double-figures for most of the third quarter and at one point it got to as big as 21 with 2:52 remaining in the quarter. However at the time when three quarters of game time had been played, Lakers were ahead by 17.
In the final quarter, the dominance continued for the visitors as they started off on a 6-2 run. Lakers got their biggest lead of the night with 7:47 remaining till the final buzzer - at that moment Lakers held a huge advantage of 23 points over their hosts.
The remaining 7 minutes of the game witnessed some lousy display of basketball skills. Lakers managed to miss 12 of their 13 shots from the field during that span while only scoring 2 points. Warriors however failed to make use of their opponent’s lack of scoring in the final stages. They did manage to score 13 points in that span; however, were unable to make a significant comeback into the game.
In the end the Lakers took this one by a margin of 12 as their lead proved to be insurmountable.
