Los Angeles Lakers humiliate Charlotte Bobcats 106-73 - NBA Recap
Los Angeles Lakers are not quite off to the start they would have anticipated this season but they are improving and getting consistent with every passing game.
On Tuesday night, the Lakers showed why they are ranked as one of the top teams in the league after they bulldozed the relling Charlotte Bobcats 106-73 at the Staples Centre.
Kobe Bryant once again stole the show with his 24 points, including 18 in the first quarter, on 9 for 21 from the floor, however importantly for the Lakers, this time it was not him alone, but the other players also came forward
and performed.
Andrew Bynum had a double-double with 20 points on 8 for 11 from the floor and a perfect 4 for 4 from the charity stripe. Pau Gasol, although not at his best, but still finished with 10 points and 9 boards.
There were significant contributions from the bench players as well.
Andrew Goudelock and Troy Murphy both netted 12 points each and a combined 9 boards and 7 assists between them whereas Matt Barnes accumulated 10 points.
Lakers were phenomenal with their shooting and shot 55.3% from the floor, 12-for-26 from the long range and 90.9% from the charity stripe.
Gerald Henderson marshalled the Bobcats with 14 points on 7 for 16 from the floor while Kemba Walker and Derrick Brown both registered 12 points each. Boris Diaw chipped in with 11 points on 1 for 3 from downtown.
Charlotte were 31-89 from the floor and were outclassed by Lakers in the boards 47-34 and assists, 26-18.
The Lakers, playing a home game before a nearly two week road stretch, dominated the game right from the start and after dominating midway, they finished the first frame with a 10-3 run to make sure they entered the second frame
with a double digit lead, 30-18.
Midway through the second frame, the lead had increased from 12 points to 18 points 42-24, as Bobcats defence had no answers to the Lakers offense. Charlotte managed to bring back the deficit to 14 points, however after that Lakers
rattled yet another fierce 14-4 spurt to push the game miles away from Bobcats - ahead by 24 points 60-36.
The Bobcats failed to put up a fight in the second half as the lead hovered around 20 points throughout the remainder of the game. Lakers fittingly ended the game with a 17-3 run and handed the Bobcats their 17th loss in the last
19 played.
