Los Angeles Lakers looking to wrap series against Denver Nuggets in 5 games – NBA Update
The Los Angeles Lakers host the Game 5 against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night at the Staples Center. The Lakers are already holding a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference first round series and have made it clear a night before
the game that they want to wrap this series up on Tuesday.
The Lakers throughout the last decade have excelled in owning the close out games, and Mike Brown expects a bit of the same from Kobe Bryant and his men.
"For me, I'm not a guy that will talk about, 'Hey, we got to win this because of this or because of that,' " Brown said. "The players know it. They know this is a close-out game. They know if we win this game (instead of Game 6
or Game 7), we don't have to get on a plane right away and fly to Oklahoma City. I mean, my ninth grade boy knows it and he's not interested in basketball."
Andrew Bynum also echoed the same feeling and gave the indication that the Lakers will be coming hard at the Nuggets early;
“Close-out games are actually kind of easy," Bynum said. "Teams tend to fold if you come out and play hard in the beginning, so we want to come out and establish an early lead and protect it."
This does depict the kind of approach he is going to have to the coming matchup and he does have valid enough reason to be this confident before such an important game.  Bynum has been averaging astounding numbers of 18.5 points
to go along with 10.3 rebounds in the post season
However, even though the Lakers hold an assertive lead on the series score, they still have not completely been able to blow past this Denver side, which with their fast paced offence have gone head to head with the Lakers.
Considering everything for the Nuggets, the odds do certainly fall in the Lakers favour as they will be looking to wrap the series up at home with the crowd of Staples Center on their back.
All we do is play as hard as we can," Bynum said. "We're at home; we're going to have the crowd there. Energy is going to be in ample supply and we're going to be fine."
As the current situation stands if the Lakers are able to clinch the series in 5 games, they will surely do themselves a huge favour as awaiting the winner of this series are the young and athletic Oklahoma City Thunder who have
won their series 4-zip against the Dallas Mavericks.
