Los Angeles Lakers retired coach Phil Jackson’s making a comeback: NBA Rumour
The former Head Coach of Los Angeles Lakers Phil Jackson is still in news after retiring from his long loved professional basketball coaching career. He was present at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame where his potential
arrival in the league was discussed in detail. He has spent so many years in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as every basketball lover recognises him as a mentor to professional players and now several basketball pundits are speculating about his
potential arrival as a head coach the New York Knicks next season.
On the other hand, many basketball experts have declined all those speculations about Jackson’s potential arrival in the league as coach. The ex-Bulls’ superstar and Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen was also present in that ceremony
and commented on Phil’s arrival in the league. Pippen said, “I think Phil is ready to go off into the sunset, probably for good, I think the physical side of it is really starting to take its toll. At this stage of his life, it would take a job like New York
to bring him back. That’s the kind of challenge that he would need. But I think he coached his last game.”
Another Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley was also attending this year’s Hall of Fame ceremony. He was also asked by several reporters about the possible arrival of Phil Jackson into the biggest basketball league in the world. Barkley
replied with total confidence and described in detail when he said,
“I don’t think Phil will coach again, whether it’s New York or anyplace else, I think the big issue is age. It’s a young person’s game. Phil’s not 50. He’s accomplished everything and I don’t think he wants to return to the grind.
It’s just time. At this stage of his life, I don’t think he wants to get stressed out.”
Phil Jackson was retired in 2011 when the Los Angeles Lakers were shattered by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of playoffs. Though, his career was not ended on a high note, but his long struggle with the Lakers has always
inspired many.
Before becoming the head coach the Lakers he had already acclaimed a well position an innovative basketball coach. He coached the Chicago Bulls for almost ten years and helped them won Six NBA titles.
Eventually he was assigned the coaching job of Lakers that proved astonishing for his career. He helped the Lakers to win 11champinsips rings and acclaimed a great name for himself. Phil Jackson won total 11 titles with the Lakers
while he remained the second best coach in the history of the league. Red Auerbach is considered the all time best coach in the league as he won the NBA championships record 16 times as a head coach.
