Staring at elimination in the second round of the playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers are trying hard to keep pace with the explosive Thunder offense; trail by 51-54 at halftime
Los Angeles Lakers are currently playing the 5th game of their Western Conference Semi Final series against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. On the brink of elimination from the playoffs LAL are trailing the Thunder 51-54 at the halfway stage.
Kobe Bryant has led Lakers charge so far in the game with 19 points on an 8 of 15 shooting night. Pau Gasol has been helping him out throughout, racking up 10 points so far to go along with 9 rebounds and 2 assists.
Andrew Bynum has chipped in with 7 points while Metta World Peace and Ramon Sessions have added 6 points each. Three players have come off the bench to feature in the game for the Lakers so far with Jordan Hill being the only scorer with 2 points.
On the other hand, the bench scoring for the Thunder has been carried by James Harden who has featured for 14:46 minutes and has racked up a team high of 13 points. Kevin Durant is not far behind with 12 points; he has also grabbed 4 boards and dished out 4 assists in the game.
Russell Westbrook has chipped in with 8 points on a 4 of 11 shooting night while Serge Ibaka has contributed with 6 points and has also been able to block three shots. The best free throw shooting team in the league have been living up to their name so far in the series and tonight has been no different. OKC have had a total of 15 attempts from the line and have managed to knock down 13 of them.
Whereas the Lakers who themselves have been spectacular from the stripe in the series have made 13 of 17 in the game so far.
One thing that has not been working for both teams tonight is their shooting from beyond the arc. The Lakers have attempted 3 from the long range and have come up empty all three times. On the other hand OKC are 1 of 7 from behind the arc with a conversion rate of 14.3%.
