Los Angeles Lakers with a 98-92 win on May 6, 2011 at the American Airlines Centre, Dallas.
For the third time in a row Dallas led the Lakers in the first quarter, their beginning was bit sluggish, but they quickly gained hold of the situation and sealed the quarter in their favour by 29-27. A within range Los Angeles
outscored the Mavs 47-51 in the second quarter.
The Lakers overshadowed the Mavs in the third period as well. For the second time in the series third quarter remained the lowest scoring frame, as Los Angeles tallied just 21 and Dallas made 19.
Lakers came into the fourth quarter with 6-point lead, but lost command when Dallas’ Stojakovic lit them with his three-pointer and the Mavs used a 32-20 charge to outplay Los Angeles and claim their third successive victory.
Andrew Bynum hit another double-double in which he scored 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers.
Game-4: Dallas Mavericks 122 – Los Angeles 86
Jason Terry lifted Dallas Mavericks with his excellent contribution, as the Mavs routed the Los Angeles Lakers 122-86 on May 8, 2011 in Dallas.
This victory ended the magical championship run of the Lakers and their coach Phil Jackson. Jackson, who led the Lakers to 11 championships, ended his coaching career on a sad note as his team was crushed by the Mavs.
Dallas swept the two time defending champions Lakers 4-0 and eliminated them from the contention to advance into the Conference Finals.
Terry led the Mavs with 32 points, grabbed one rebound, swatted four assists and blocked one shot.
After leading the Lakers 27-23 in the first quarter, the Mavs, behind a sizzling 7 for 8 shooting performance from beyond the arc, Dallas outscored Los Angeles 36-16 in the second quarter and build a 63-39 lead at the halftime.
Terry knocked down a barrage of three-pointers, hit five and scored 17 in the rally and Peja Stojakovic sank the remaining two. Dallas achieved their playoffs highest-scoring period with this blitz, before they reached the fourth
period, when the Mavs raised their lead to 36 and registered the victory in their favour.
Pau Gasol was leading contributor for the Lakers, scored 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
