Los Angeles receive 5-0 beating from Minnesota Twins – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels receive bitter hammering of 5-0 from Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, May 8, at Target Field, Minnesota in their second game of three-match Major League Baseball regular series.
The series three-match series now stands equal at 1-1.
"If you draw a baseball game up, that's the way you'd do it, If something happens in our rotation, you be the guy that's throwing the best," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said for his team with confidence and delight.
The Twins’ starting pitcher Scott Diamond played a key role in his team’s comeback win.
He played a career best game and earned great appreciation from Twins top management, who gave Diamond a perfect plat-form to start his Major League debut season.
His seven scoreless innings and six struck outs proved wonderful for the Twins as they took the game away in style.
Allowing only four hits, Diamond remained the decisive factor in Twins victory.
"The defense was awesome. I wouldn't have been able to have gone seven without them, The goal was to work back here. When I got sent down I was a little discouraged, but I wanted to work hard and get back," Diamond said with confidence and told the reporters about his good outing.
The Twins left fielder Josh Willingham also said for his team’s tremendous win, "We needed a win bad. We needed something to jump-start us.”
On the other hand, the Angels starter Dan Haren could not play well and lost his momentum that he was carrying since start of the new Major League Baseball season.
He gave up some five important runs including eight hits and two walks.
"I gave up a bunch of hits to a team that's really struggling. That speaks to how I feel right there," said Haren.
From start of the game until it was finished, the Twins never allowed the Angels to play easy. Their entire team kept the pressure on Angels’ batting line-up and finished in style stretching five runs lead.
Now the series is even at 1-1, but the series decider game will be played on Wednesday, May 9.
