Question:

Lose weight during Ramadan ( Fasting) ?

So, Ramadan starts tomorrow and it's going to last 28 days.

For those who don't know what that is, it's a Muslim period in which we have to fast -no drinks (including water) and no food- from sunrise until sunset. Then we eat as we like after the sunset until the sunrise.

I am planning to lose some weight during this period. I am asking for guidelines and tips to follow in order to achieve that. Following are some questions I'd like to have an answer to..

- What do I eat right after the sun is down (that is around 7pm) ?

- What should I eat at dinner ?

- If I wake up before the sun rises (as most muslims do) in order to eat something, what should that be ?

Thank you !

  1. re: crazy-lady: ramadan starts at different dates around the world. im in the U.S. and it starts tomorrow, so dont act like you know everything. Only Allah knows all, not you. now, to the question.....!

assalmu alaikum brother! excited for ramadan?

i too am planning to lose some weight in the next month. after the sun sets, i would eat something lightweight, dont fill yourself up too much because you wont have time to burn it off. (also, if you plan on going to taraweeh prayer, it might be hard to read the nafl with a full stomach!) maybe like oatmeal or fruit or a bowl of cereal (not the sugary kid ones either lol)

at sehri time, or before sunrise, i would eat something filling. like bread with honey or oatmeal again. try a paratha (are you desi...?) or something, itll really keep you full throughout the day.

also, make sure you drink a lot of H20 in the morning, so you dont get thirsty.

    RAMADAN MUBARAK!

  2. Hello it is commonly known that diets are 95% certain to fail. I say that you have a look at http://abe5.com/6mp its a fantastic site with lots of free help and advice. I lost 8 pounds in four weeks by using their methods

  3. first please don't expect to lose 25 pounds in 28 days.

second, despite the popular myth it's generally not important WHEN you eat but rather WHAT you eat.

And what you should eat is a balanced diet based on complex carbohydrates and lean protein with a little fat to keep you from craving food and then binging or quitting.

Complex carbs include whole grains, vegetables, fruits - you know, stuff with lots of fiber.  The nearer the earth (as in less processed) the better.

Good luck, but please - be realistic.

  4. eating less doesn't make you loose weight as much. u need to exercises. you can run every other day for 30 min and loose a lot of weight.
