Losing Hope Fast...?

My kitten has been gone since Friday...I've been around the nieghborhood calling for her friday night and yesterday...if she was still alive wouldn't she hear me and come running? When we let her out she always just stayed in the backyard and came running the second she heard us.

It has been raining all weekend...would this make a difference. It hasn't been raining at night though.

I've set her litter box, food, toys, and my shirt outside to help her find home. Last night I sat out some tuna also.

People who have lost cats...how long before they come home? How did they come home...middle of the night in an open door or during the day?? Please, I can't stop crying I just want my baby back.

  1. all u should think of is that if she doesnt come back she is in a cozy house with nice kids and a family somewere out there.that is wat i think when i loose my cat.try putting up posters everywere including the vets and signs around you

  2. go round all your neighbors and ask them to check sheds and garages in case he's been shut in-also put up posters and ask at animal shelters-i hope you find him. and if you do, get him microchipped

  3. when my cat was lost we looked around the naboorhood she was under a shed in out naboors yard the whole time for 3 days. She heard me but just wouldnt come out we had to get her close and pull her out. I would look under things it could be under something, cause of the rain

  4. Im sorry, I would be sad too. Just pray that she returns safely soon. Good luck to ya. Once it stops raining, put up some lost cat signs, maybe someone took the cat in to shelter it from the rain, not knowing it was your baby.

  5. try putting out posters in your neighbourhood. offer a reward if you can.

i'm sorry to say this but the chances are your cat has been hit by a car or something because cats have a very good sense of direction. generally cats will be found upto a week. you may want to knock on neighbours doors to see whether they have some info (a friend of mine was looking for her cat she asked some of the neighbours and it turns out there had been foxes fighting around the day she went missing and foxes will kill cats and sometimes eat them) or maybe one of them hit her and has been trying to look for the owner

leave your door open during the day and don't lose all hope yet but the chances are bleak

    i'm very very sorry

  6. well i've lost my dog once and i did what you did except for the tuna. what i did what call and few pounds for animals and see if any found a lost dog (in your case a cat). good luck, that's how i found my dog.

  7. Before I adopted the "indoor only" policy, I had a cat that sounds just like yours. Never strayed far from home and always came soon after calling her. One day she didn't and was gone for 7 days! We searched and called all over the neighborhood, and eventually found her trapped under a house next door with another "lost" cat. The neighbors had put up some new trim work and had locked the cats in!

I'll pray your baby comes home soon or that you find her and she's safe!

    Best of luck to you!

  8. I had cats go for about 3 or 4 days, anything after that and it was normally bad news... but your cat could be scared or lost. Put up posters and look around for her. Good call on the toys and food. Call local vets and shelters and see if they've heard anything. Keep your head up :) And don't let him out anymore please, cats live longer indoors and catch less diseases Good luck :)

  9. i have a 15 year old that disappears for weeks at a time.

i had a 20 year old that would leave for the summer, three months. one winter he didnt come home.

cats explore, get into trouble. may have picked up by a shelter, try them.

neighbor might have thought she was abandoned, and took her in. put fliers, post an ad in the paper.

you may have a wanderer that will come back in a few weeks.

half of your answers will say you are an awful person for letting her out, my two are 15 and have a cat door. come and go as they please for 15 years. one never leaves the yard, the other is only in the yard to eat.

i wouldn't put food out, unless you are there, wild animals will be attracted to it and that wil scare her if she comes home.

also, if she/he is about 6 months old and not spayed/neutered, he /she might be partying with the locals.

oh, and, the one that leaves for weeks, found her at a gas station a mile from my house once. came up and greeted me, then ran off. came home the next day. have no idea how far cats wander, but i know it is a least a mile.

  10. try putting up some posters and asking neighbors or local shelters.hope you find your cat soon!!

  11. How old is the kitten? I lost a 3 month old in a city. Hed wandered 3 blocks away. Keep walking & calling. signs work great, unless someone has decided to keep your friend. Town or country?  Our country kids have been outside for 10 days before coming home. Theres a lot to do out there. One town kid was gone 40 days, another 100 before we were able to find them. 40 day just came home one day, 100  day was still lost when he spotted him, & chased him for the next hour. I dont want to worry you needlessly, but whereever you live, make sure you check any streets too, to rule out all possibilites. Hope you have a happy outcome.

  12. I sorry to hear this, but this stuff does happen sometimes.

Your cat could of just gone off exploring and just got caught up in the rain.

And yes, this has happened to me before. My cat went missing for four months, but then he came back. I was so happy!

Keep doing what you have been doing, such as leaving food and water and toys outside.

Post missing adds around your area, somebody could of found it and took it in because of the rain.

I hope you find your cat. Good luck!

  13. Well it's only been 2 days. The first time we let my cat out (she was only a few weeks old, but we decided to try letting her out) she dissappeared for 4 days and we were worried sick. But then we found her again, she was on just about the tallest tree in the neighborhood, stuck. Don't worry,  we got her down, and now she's completely used to being outside. They often just wander off a little, but she will find her way back, don't worry! Cats have a great sense of orientation, and they can survive for a long time. We went to France once, to our holiday house, and when we had to leave again she wasn't there, so we had to leave her (school and work the next day). And we came back after like 4 weeks, she was fine, just a little skinny. She's probably catching mice and she will be back soon! It sounds like you've done everything you can, maybe you could put up posters... but after 2 days there's nothing to worry about as yet. Good luck, and I hope she will be back soon!

  14. I'm sorry about your kitty and hope you find her soon. I had a kitten that got outside, it was winter and very cold out. Unfortunately we never saw her again. She was very cute and we loved her very much I'm sure someone found her and took her in. You kitty just may come home and I hope she does.

I had another cat about 5 years ago, she was an indoor cat and I had her for 12 years. She got outside on the 4th of July and we never saw her again. I put up posters and handed out fliers throughout the neighborhood but to no avail.

Words can't describe the pain of losing a pet, my thoughts and prayers are with you, good luck and don't lose hope, maybe she will al be back home with you by the time you read this.

I would be careful about leaving food out as it may attract other animals, she may get scared off by them.

  15. don't worry my cat ran away during hurricane Wilma and came back a year later. but you should call animal shelters and keep looking don't give up! but you should not let her out anymore because your just making a bigger chance that she can get hurt! You should make flyer's and signs and give them out and ask people who walk around your neighborhood to keep a look out. :)

  16. I recently moved home and a week later our female cat escaped sometime during the night (she'd figured out how to open the door to the bedroom balcony).  As she'd always been an indoor-only cat I panicked when I couldn't find her in the morning.  I spent a frantic 24 hours walking the neighbourhood calling for her and looking everywhere I could think of.  I made missing cat posters, rang all local vet clinics and animal shelters but no-one had seen her.  In the early hours of the morning I heard cats fighting outside and looked to see if it was her.  It wasn't, but I spotted her face at the window of a neighbours home!  She must have dashed in there when his door was opened and been hiding there the whole time.  Amazingly the neighbour wasn't even aware that she was in his house.

If your kitten hasn't been spayed she may have wandered a little further than usual in search of a mate.  Perhaps she took shelter somewhere from the rain and got trapped by accident.  Ask neighbours to check their sheds, garages and any outbuilding they may have.  Make missing cat posters and give one to your mailman and ask him to keep an eye out for your kitten.   Is she microchipped or does she wear a collar?   It's possible that someone took pity on her in the rain and has perhaps taken her into their home not realising that she's already someone's pet.

Don't give up hope.  I recently answered a  question on here where someone posted that their missing cat turned up after 2 years!

I sincerely hope that you find her safe and well very soon.
