Losing Interest After Mystery Is Broken?

Hello.

I believe that when something has a mystery surrounding it, it is more interesting and it is nice to have that mystery you know.. But when people constantly look to find out the mystery or secrets of the thing in question.. Do you feel that you tend to lose interest?

Say for instance Stone Henge... It has been a constant arcitect of interest for many years but now that scientists and such say that they have found its secrets i feel that they have destroyed something so beautiful and wonderous. Also what with the new identification of Banksy..! WHY?

Banksy is really good and what with his mysterious character it adds to the interest and whats more his art work is world recognised and is sold for thousands so why reck the whole experience???

Im sorry... cue the boo's probably but this is what i feel... Am i alone in thinking this??

Thank You For Your Response! x

  1. This is why men leave women once they've had their wicked way with them. The mystery has gone. So it's on to the next one, to do the same again...

I'm not defending this behaviour, just telling it like it is.

  2. I think it is more interesting to know the answer to the mysteries.

The more you know, the more interesting it becomes.

The more you know, the more you know, you don't know.

The thrill is gone, only when they done you wrong.

We need more light and less darkness.

  3. I understand where you're coming from, however humans are naturally curious which is quite unfortunate sometimes

  4. I agree with you - I love mystery - Pity that couldn't be part of the heritage deal - Save our mysteries. you can content yourself with the fact that they probably still don't really know - we never quite understand - and there'll always be mysteries.

Still the Marie Celeste and the Romanoffs - I think humanity can t live with them and cant live without them when we get down to our last mystery we'll be in trouble. The romanticists and the fundamentalists will have to slug it out.

  5. You're right, but missing the point. Interest is a natural instinct for something we don't understand. The goal is we learn about whatever interests us (ie: what we don't understand) then when we understand it we move on.

Interest in something is the driving force behind curiosity. To take that away, or to simply say "Lets LET it be unknown" is to me, silly. We as humans want to understand as much as possible, as we should, it's how we learned, it's how we evolved.
