Losing Mark Buehrle will be a big blow for White Sox, states GM Kenny Williams
The Chicago White Sox GM Kenny Williams has spoken loudly and stated in the media regarding Mark Buehrle’s importance and his star calibre. He was present in Milwaukee where Major League Baseball general manager’s meeting is taking place and reporters were
constantly asking him the same question regarding free agent Buehrle’s future with the White Sox.
Williams replied with a sense of care for Mark Buehrle, who has played his entire career in the White Sox franchise and recently became a free agent.
Williams said, “Listen, its professional sports, there’s a time for everyone to come. There's a time for everyone to go. I don't know if this is his time to go. … I don't want this to come out the wrong way because he has been as consistent of a performer
as you'd ever want over the time he's been here.”
Many baseball experts also agree with the same thoughts of Kenny Williams and have stated in the media regarding the importance of Buehrle for the White Sox in their future seasons. Buehrle’s career statistics speak for him as he achieved these great figures
from Chicago’s platform.
Going 3.59 ERA along with 13-9 (win loss), 109 strike-outs and a 1.30 WHIP this past season is a memorable success. In his 11 year career he went with a 3.83 ERA, including 161-119 (win loss), 1396 strike-outs and a 1.28 WHIP.
White Sox GM Williams, speaking to reporters, also described the all the efforts to possibly retain Buehrle for the next seasons. He was little uncertain on the next contract for Buehrle but he was sure that the deal between the White Sox and Buehrle is
much more likely to happen at the very last moment.
Williams did not claim anything which suggested his own and White Sox management’s intentions for Buehrle but late in the meeting, his loud appreciation for the free agent hampered the possibilities’ of Buehrle going anywhere else except the Chicago White
Sox. It will be interesting to see what Buehrle is offered by the White Sox to stay.
