When I was pregnant with my first child, I got so fat that my fiance had to cut my engagement ring off, then I wore it around my neck on a chain. On the day I went into labor I had to remove my chain and with all the excitement of having a new baby in the home and we also had to do major moving when our apartment got a rat (gross, yea too much info huh?) anyways I LOST or FORGOT where I put my engagement ring! My fiance has taken this really bad and i understand! but what is the right thing to do? buy a new one?

  1. Aw, that's too bad. No, don't try to fool him. Tell him right away - that means an extra pair of eyes trying to look for it.

If you didn't buy extra insurance for it, it would still be covered under your renter's insurance, so check into that.

  2. Well, first of all, is it insured? If so, you should make a claim to your insurance company. Then perhaps you could try to buy an exact copy of your former ring or at least something similar. Maybe you could give him the claim check and let him pick it out since he feels so upset by this.

Or you could keep looking. Maybe it'll turn up!

Good luck! I feel so bad for you. I know I'd be so sad if I lost mine!

  3. Ohhh, that's a really tricky situation!

I'd be honest - say that you have something important that you have to tell him, take a deep breath, then tell him that you can't find your ring (that sounds better than "I've lost the ring" which is a bit too final)  and add that you have been looking everywhere for it, say how bad you feel, and that you feel terrible about it.

EDIT: Oops, just re-read the question and realised that you already told him! In that case, you did the right thing. I definitely wouldn't try to fool him by buying another one and pretending you found it, but you could mention that you've been feeling so bad about it that you've considered buying a replacement. Say that you miss the symbol of your engagement, and want to wear something that shows the world that you're engaged - it wasn't your fault you had to get it cut off!

Hopefully he'll understand, and will see that you're genuinely sorry that you lost it. Hope you find it soon!

  4. well r u planning on getting married soon?cause u could just wear a wedding band then =) i suppose u could always buy another one ..this is something id so do!

    xx

  5. Ring does not necessarily need to be covered by its own policy, could be covered by homeowner's or renter's insurance.  However, there are time constraints and it probably is too late.

I think it is absolutely wrong to attempt to deceive fiance.

And why aren't you all married?  Proabably due to his immaturity. Sounds like he is certain you lost it on purpose - forgot that you were having HIS child?

    He's a loser.  Dump him.

  6. I would buy a nice fake one and wear that while you continue to look for your old one.  If this seems to be a common problem, maybe you should get a nice CZ (a good fake) diamond to wear or buy insurance on the ring.  Let your fiance know that your very sorry and it was an accident.  I would also purchase your next ring yourself, since he paid for the first one.
