  1. maybe you're using too much conditioner? it thins out your hair quite a bit.

  2. I would ask your doctor. This has started happening to me and I don't understand it either. I am scheduling a checkup anyhow, and will post whatever he tells me.

  3. I logged on here for answers as well. I'm going through the same thing right now. I'm in my mid-twenties and the only other time that I remember losing this much hair in so little time was a couple of months after I gave birth to my son. Hair loss is common for women to experience 3 - 6 months after childbirth, due to hormonal changes that occur during that time. With you being a teenager, I wouldn't be surprised if hormones were the culprit. In my case, I will probably take it up with my doctor soon. Good luck.

  4. If you are on some type of medication it could cause hair loss, also since you are a teenager you could be going through hormonal changes that might be causing this hair loss.  Let's also not forget everyone sheds, thousands of hairs a day.  I wouldn't worry too much about hair shedding, unless you start seeing bald spots.  If that happens I would check with your doctor about the things I mentioned above and I would chat it up with your hair dresser as well.  There are hair products that can

re-stimulate the hair follicle to spark growth, Nioxin for example.

  5. Are you taking any medications that might cause hair loss?  My sister used to take Accutane for her acne and it caused her hair to fall out.  Also keep in mind that the average person loses 100 hairs a day.  Are you sure you're losing more than average?  If you think something is wrong, see a doctor.

  6. well first of all, are you malnutrition? and if so, why?

I can relate, because this was happening to me at one point due to malnutrition. When one is malnutritioned, the body will get rid of simple things to save energy for other things ... example, your body needs energy for you to move, but you don't have any body fat / stores to burn, so your body saves energy by losing your hair and lack of growth in your finger nails (the less there is, the less energy your body expends in taking care of it) ...

if you are malnutritioned to the point of losing your hair, then it is very likely that it is effecting more of your body ... when you have no energy stores for you body to burn, then it will start to "eat" your muscle for energy ... so if you really are manutirtioned, then please please find some professional help.

  7. Have you been losing a lot of weight lately? Sometimes your hair will come out more than usual when you have changed your diet, or have lost a lot of weight. If you begin to worry more, then I would suggest seeing a doctor.

  8. I wouldn't be too worried about it.  This happened to me not too long ago and I got very nervous that something was wrong.  I started losing lots of hair in the shower especially.  I find it happens more in the summer, and this is normal.

However, this being said it wouldn't hurt to call your doc and check in.  But try to keep your nerves down about it, or you could get really worked up over nothing.  Keep in mind it could be completely normal.

  9. The things you mention could cause it...but you should see other signs along with it.   On the other hand, stress can cause hair to fall out too without additional symptoms.

Or it could be just a natural phase your going thu.  I wouldn't worry about it unless your hair becomes noticeably thinner or you start getting bald patches.

  10. Maybe it just seems like alot.. ? But everybody loses hair everyday. I notice that when Im really stressed I tend to lose alot more than normal.. maybe you just need to relax. Or if you have dyed your hair or bleached it alot that could be the problem. Good Luck. :)
