I've been taking accutane for about 4 months now and this is my second round through. My first round of it, i actually gained weight, and I knew that was a normal side effect from what i had read. But this time, I've actually lost weight. I did for a short time go on a diet and lost about 7 or 8 pounds doing that, but since then, i've lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks, and i really haven't been eating healthy. i'm not really complaining, cause hey, who doesn't wanna lose weight? i just want to know if its normal to lose weight while on accutate or is it something else. should i be concerned if i keep losing more?

  1. The side effects of Accutane are:

    1. depressed mood, trouble concentrating, sleep problems, crying spells, aggression or agitation, changes in behavior, hallucinations, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself;

    2. sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body;

    3. blurred vision, sudden and severe headache or pain behind your eyes, sometimes with vomiting;

    4. hearing problems, hearing loss, or ringing in your ears;

    5. seizure (convulsions);

    6. severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate;

    7. loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);

    8. severe diarrhea, rectal bleeding, black, bloody, or tarry stools;

    9. fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, purple spots under your skin, easy bruising or bleeding; or

    10. joint stiffness, bone pain or fracture.

    So, I believe that the side effects: loss of appetite and severe diarrhea are the one that make you thin.
