Question:

Lost Greencard Complication

by  |  earlier

I lost my greencard, applied for a replacement (paying the $380 fee), got a notice for an appointment for biometrics, and then promptly found my lost card! Does anyone have experience or knowledge regarding this sort of a situation? Is it possible to cancel my application and get my money back? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  1. You could ask at your local immigration office through appointment from InfoPass or call customer service. Although I think it is already voided.

  2. The simple answer is NO. You reported your card lost. It is now considered invalid. If you tried to use it to travel, the computer check would come back showing that you presented a lost or stolen I-551.

As the card remains the property of the U.S. government, get it out of circulation by returning it to CIS. That way it won't fall into the hands of another, and it won't be in the computer system as a lost or stolen card.

Continue with the application that you have already made.
