Lost all my destop shortcuts and my recycle bin?

Question

MY computer boots up but only a screen appears no bars or icons and my recycle bin are gone

Boot-up the set up cd select repair

did you log in as different user by mistake?

Sounds like your profile has got corrupted so Windows has made a new one which is why it looks like that.

Go to My Computer > C > Documents and Settings

Check the folders in there, they will usually be under the username/login name, you may find your old profile information in there, you can copy across your old program shortcuts etc from it.

try a system restore back to a time before the problem happened
