I just lost my license and my seasonal job is over.

There is a Starbucks about 1.5 miles from my house, (I've worked at Panera before so it would be easy) but I will probably get $8 an hour?

or

nice restaurant, dinner entrees $15-$25, that is 3 miles away.

I will be riding my bike, It gets kind of cold in the winter (NJ 35-50 degrees)

Should I work at the Starbucks (easier and closer)

Or the restaurant, (make about $50-100/night) also will the restaurant's business slow down in the winter?

  1. Do both...

Work the restaurant on weekends. The tips are higher on Fridays & Saturdays. Also in the winters, guests tend to sit and eat longer. They usually order more bottles of wine. The turns on tbales is less but the bills are usually higher.

The Starbucks will generate more cash on weekdays, especially mornings. Also the tip jar is pooled. Even more monies!!!

I say work Starbucks on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays.

Work the Restaurant on Fridays & Saturdays and take off both on Sundays & Thursdays.

  2. Restaurant that way you make lot more money and get good exercise. It will also give you plenty of time to think about why you lost your drivers license in the first place.

  3. I would work at Starbucks - that way if you get cold you can get a hot coffee to go home with. It also seems like a much easier job.

That's just me, but if you want more money go for the restaurant. People eat out all year long especially when their families come to visit around the holiday season. People out shopping get exhausted, and take a break by going out to dinner. The same goes for Starbucks though too - I think it may be difficult to get a job at Starbucks right now though I heard they are downsizing by A LOT. Apply to both, and make a list of pros/cons.
