Lost functionality w/ Universal Remote. I lost the original remote and bought a universal as a

Question

I lost the original remote and bought a universal as a replacement. I can turn off the TV, change channels, etc., but for some reason the remote won't allow me to pull up the menu or switch from cable input to video input. I can't even find a way of switching the input from the front of the TV or in the menu. Any ideas?
