Question:

Lost in translation (German)?

My bf's native language is German and often times when he gets frustrated and don't know what to say when we're chatting online he likes to type in German. Most the times I use translation sites, but they often translate it wrong or inaccurate. So can anyone help me translate a few things?

Ich mag Sie aber ich denke nicht dass wir zusammen sein können. Sie verstehen nicht?

Ich bedauere sehr. Ich weiß, dass ich das häufig sage. ich bin nutzlos...

Thanks.

  1. I like you but I don't think that we could be together.  don't you understand?

I regret a lot.  I know I say that frequently.  I am useless...

I'm pretty sure that's correct, but really, if he wants to not be frustrated, tell him you don't know how to read German and asking you to understand it doesn't work for you... he has to understand you don't speak it!  I agree with above.  If he was your boyfriend, he would use "du" instead of "Sie".  "Sie" is the formal form of you... for acquaintances, elders, teachers, etc.... weird...

  2. 'I like you, but I don't think that we can be together. Don't you understand?'

'I'm so sorry. I know that I say this frequently. I'm useless ...'

  3. I like you but I don't think that we can be together.  Don't you understand?

I have a lot of regret/ I'm really sorry.  I know I say that all the time.  I'm useless...

    * it's strange that you uses the 'Sie' form with you, shouldn't it be 'du'?
