Lost job. Does a company have to pay all due commission,if they not been payed by the customer yet?

I lost my job as a tow truck driver and when I am on call they pay us a % of each tow. We normally don't recieve this till the car is picked up or eventually sold, which cvould take days,weeks, or months. Do they have to pay me all my commison, or if the car is still there do I just lose all that pay?

Usually, no commission is earned until the product is sold.
