Lost my job seekers booklet what can I do?

I was made redundant when my last employers went into liquidation. I have been applying for jobs left right and centre with only being offered 3 interviews and not getting the job :(. This does make me very unconfident and eveything seems to be going wrong now.

During a recent rearranging of the house a few of my business stuff have gone missing, including my job seekers booklet has gone missing. Will they stop my allowance if I have lost it? Does that mean I have to bring in a written paper of all the places I've looked and applied to and my NI card?

  1. They wont stop your allowance, no. They will give you a new book.

Yeah, bring your NI Card - because they might search for you by NI number.

ha, dont worry about it ! if your worried, give them a call and double check.

  2. Best thing to do is ring them as soon as possible and explain the situation. They will probabily issue you with a new one and you will just have to explain at your next meeting what happened and they will probabily let you slide!

  3. They won't stop your allowance. When you next go for your appointment, tell them what has happened. They will ask you what you've been doing to find work and will issue you with a new booklet. I doubt you're the first person to have lost their booklet, nor will you be the last.

  4. You should be okay as long as you have a written list of what you've done to look for a job in the last two weeks.

I would take some ID and your NI card on the off chance you have to fill in a form, but I imagine they will just give you a new booklet.  Of course you may end up having to fill in a change of circustance form (or as I call it, "The Form For Everything"), it shouldn't effect your money although you may end up getting it a little bit later than normal.
