Lost my video camera charging cord - can I use my cell phone charging cord?

I lost the cord that you use to charge the battery on my video camera. Rather than go out and buy a new one (multi-voltage thing), can I use the cord that charges my cell phone?

My video camera says DC in 8.4 volts... the cell phone charging cord says output 5.7 volts. Will this mess up my camera battery or does it not make a difference?
