I need some form of identification to obtain either.

only thing i could think of is attempt to retrieve a new copy of my high school photo ID, or use various mail envelopes from federal facilities and multiple pay stubs or bank account information and tax forms with my name.

perhaps there is a easier route?

  1. To get your Birth certificate you need to visit your city hall. Your learners permit you will have to go back to the DMV and re-apply for learners permit. You have to call the Social Security office and tell them you lost your S.S. card. Do you have a VOTERS REGISTRATION Card? That can be used as a form of ID. If not take try your bankbook with your name on it.  Paystubs with your name should work too.

    Hope I helped you.

  2. Sorry to say, there's no easier route. You are on the right track. It's a hassle but worth it, in the long run.
