Lost social security card?

in new york.. if i walk into the office with my license and birth certificate could they make me one that day?

They will give you a letter that day stating your social security number on their letterhead, saying you requested a new card.  Then they will send you one in the mail.  That letter can usually be used for whatever you needed the card for (job, etc.)

when i lost mine, i went to the office and they said they had to mail it to me! but it may be different in different stes. find the # for the office and double check b/4 u go

im not sure, but in NJ with those documents u can get it in one or to weeks in the mail but u get the authorized # saying that the # belong to you and you have reapply for a card. i think u should report it, i did.

Yes, but make sure you've got some time on your hands, because last time I went to get a new card I waited for awhile.

No they will have to mail you a new one it takes a few weeks.
