Klose scored a last minute winner to guide his team to a crucial 2-1 win over local rivals, A.S http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 on Sunday, October 16th, 2011. The game was played at full throttle as both teams created clear-cut scoring opportunities.
Klose has made a huge impact at the Stadio Olimpico Rome since joining the Biancazzurri in the summer transfer window. The German international has scored four goals in the 2011/12 Serie A thus far and has been inspirational behind
his team’s performances.
Lotito admitted that he feared that his team might lose the game after they failed to convert their chances for major parts of the game. The President believes that his team was superior to the opposition and Klose’s strike justified
it in the end.
Lotito added, “On the field we saw a clear superiority. We created many chances but were probably in a state of discouragement for having failed to convert them, before Klose's goal immediately expelled that.”
The Chief heaped praise on the former Bayern Munich star and added that he is really impressed with his character and wants him to continue playing for three or four more years.
“I'd like to see him continue for another three years at this level. He is a fantastic player, a true professional. He could have gone to Milan but fortunately he did not.”
Lotito also backed the manager, Edy Reja, and admitted that he has full trust in him and that is why he rejected his resignation last week.
“I always believed in him, something I also showed a month ago when I rejected his resignation. He is the right Coach for Lazio he has the right energy and experience.”
The win against Roma takes Lazio to the 4th spot in the league table with only one point behind league leaders, Juventus. Lotito rejected talks of his team’s chances of winning the Scudetto and believes that it is long
way to go.
