  1. 1.  Always wipe from front to back with the wipe.  The side with the sticky stuff/velcro type material (the flaps) goes in the back.  You may have to readjust the flaps to keep the diaper secure (too loose and the baby will leak).

    2.  The big thing to be cautious of with a 3 year old is when she rolls over (if she's doing that yet).  If she can roll over, sometimes you have to be careful that she doesn't bump her head on her way down.  Make sure you don't let her have anything that could be a choking hazard.  Lay her on her back to sleep.  If you're going over to her house, her parents will probably explain more details about where she sleeps and when.  If she's coming to yours, make sure she's got a place to sleep where she can't fall and doesn't have blankets and pillows that could smother her.

    3.  I have a 6 and a half month old, and 3 months was pretty easy.  She'll eat, sleep, p**p, and play.  You'll like getting her to smile (and maybe even laugh), but other than that, just make sure her needs are met.

    5.  Entertaining a 3 month old means making silly faces and noises, and providing her with safe and interesting toys.  Things that rattle or can be gnawed on work wonders.  Her parents will probably bring some toys over.  Sing to her, and even read books.  She'll most likely want to eat the book, but it's good to have exposure to reading.

    Have fun!

  2. I wouldn't leave my 3 months old baby with you unsupervised.

  3. Ask your mom to help you with the diaper. It is hard to explain.

Be cautious of her head. She may not be able to hold it up herself yet so when handling her make sure you are supporting her head/neck area.

It's fun to babysit (have a baby girl of my own too) and bad things happen but good things always rule out. No worries.

Just have fun. Babies are great and as she gets older she will become more fun. Right now she will probably like bright objects and toys that play noises.

  4. hopefully she will sleep the mother should fill you in ask her to show you these things I don't think a 13 year old should be left alone with a 3 month old though no offence

  5. 1. how to change a diaper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ayFXfY89...

    this should help

    2. be cautious of contstant crying!

    3. cried all day long...i was tired...had no time for my self

    4. she will need alot of attention

just feed, claean her, play with her, and sing to her..

    5. sing to her..play with her...watch tv with her...anything can entertain her...give her something to suck on (but something very big! like a pillow)

  6. Firstly, you're in for a bad night's sleep!

It really is not easy to explain how to change a nappy (UK word for diaper), so get your cousin to show you once before she leaves the baby.

Be careful not to make the babies milk too hot and don't forget to wind her after the feed.

Basically remain calm, talk to the baby lots, smile lots and make as many funny faces as you can.

    Goo luck!

  7. i am a mom to a 3month old...

To change a diaper....just make sure she is very clean...no p**p or pee left anywhere...put cream on if necessary...ask her mum to show you how to put the diaper on correctly.....

to entertain her can be easy..just sit with her and talk and laugh! also if you have any baby toys just to show her she will enjoy that too!

    Good luck for tonight x

  8. Ok. I am not sure I would leave my baby alone with someone who has no experinece but I babysat a lot as a kids and we all have to start somewhere.

    1. Changing a diaper is much simpler than people think. First get all your supplies ready-diapers, wipes, changing pad. Then open the diaper. Her being a girl you need to wipe her from front to back. Make sure she is all clean and put the new diaper on.

    2. Watch how you hold her head. Babies at this age can still have weaker necks so you need to support their heads when holding them. When feeding her put a bib or burp cloth under her chin so bottle drips won't go all over her clothes. NEVER heat a bottle in the microwave. NEVER shake a baby no matter how frusterated you may become. If this baby stresses you out there is nothing wrong with putting her in her car seat or in another safe place (not on the couch or bed) and go in another room for a few minutes to calm down.

    3. I have two children of my own, I run a daycare and I babysat since I was 10 (for family 13 for non family) Kids are adorable but they can push your buttons and stress you out. They are very demanding and take a lot of time and care. Taking care of a puppy is hard but taking care of a baby is a million times harder. If you feel stressed at any point call your mom or call the parents. Lots of people think that only evil people shake babies...not true sometimes it's good people that lose their cool for that one second.

You can do this. Lots of people start babysitting at your age. So just have faith in yourself and you will do fine.

  9. Who was the fool that wants you to baby site when you have absolutely no experience and can't even change a diaper?

I sure wouldn't want you to learn on my kid. What the heck are you going to do if the child starts choking?

We don't practice on live children!!  Go get some education on this, take a babysiting class and learn about what could happen and how to handle it if it does. My grand daughter died of SIDS with a baby sitter, guess how that sitter feels today!!!

  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uy3Hy5Vgz... to change a diaper, it's really not hard it just seems intimidating.

Just watch her when she's on an elevated surface, make sure she won't roll over. Most 3 month olds can't do too much yet, so you don't have to worry about too much since you don't really have to chase em around, they kinda just lie there

I have a 4month old baby girl and I've babysat children my whole life ranging from ages 1-12

As for entertainment, babies are pretty easy to entertain, they aren't hard to entertain, just make sure you have something for gas, ask the mother if the baby has any gas problems, or is teething and if so make sure she will give you something for it.

My daughter loved playing Peek-a-boo, and tickling, don't worry it's alright I'm sure you'll do great! Just think of it as an easy job and you can do it and you will do a good job.

  11. Are they leaving you alone with the baby????

    1. open diaper, wipe off the p**p from everwhere, remove messy stuff, replace with clean diaper.

    2. babies are hard work... they cry a lot... try not to get stressed out about it

    3.  I have a child... I wouldn't leave my 3 month old with a 13 year old.... sorry.

    4.  don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it.

    5.  sing to her, hold her, bounce her, play games with her hands and feet.

  12. You want a puppy, so someone is letting you watch their three month old child overnight and you have no clue about babies? Call and tell them to cancel their plans because you shouldn't be watching their kid...that's the most responsible thing you can do at this point. You sound like and idiot. You're worried cause you don't know how to entertain her...what happens if she chokes or stops breathing? Do you know that baby Heimlich or infant CPR? What if there is a real emergency, would you know what to do? I'm not trying to be mean, but seriously...are you kidding?

EDIT: Ok, sorry it's different if you're mom's going to be there. Relax! Her mom should show you how to change the diaper when she drops her off and I'm sure your mom knows how in case you run into trouble. At three months old, babies still sleep a lot and don't really play with toys yet. You can lay her on the floor on her tummy or back and read to her or just talk. Put her in the stroller and take a walk if it's nice outside. There's not much you can do to entertain a baby that small, just keep talking and smiling at her. Good luck! And sorry I said you sounded like an idiot lol ;-)

  13. honey, do her parents know that you have no experience with babies ?

3 months is very young and you do need to be quite careful and competent with her. depending on how strong she is , she may still need her head supported when you pick her up.

i think you should ask her parent for tips before they leave, and have them show you how to change the diaper.i think they will go over everything with you anyways.

to keep her entertained, is depends on her personality, some babies like soft music and gentle rocking, others prefer to be bounced and made googly faces at.

there is sooo much info and so little time , why did you wait so long to ask ?

feel free to email me if you have any specific questions , i will be online working. good luck !

  14. To all the other mean  answers, CHILL THE FREAK OUT!
