Lotte Friis earns Women’s 800m freestyle gold: Day three - 2012 Sette Colli Meet, Italy
Lotte Friis of Denmark earned gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle on third day of the 2012 Sette Colli Meet in Rome, Italy on Saturday, June 16.
The Danish swimmer smothered hopes of her opponents by occupying the fastest spot of the distant freestyle event. With her unmatchable efforts and alluring pace, she faced no difficulty in overpowering her opponents for gold medal of the event.
She stayed nearly three body lengths faster from her closest swimmer, Wendy Trott of South Africa and hit the finishing end for gold medal with the timing of 8 minutes and 22.10 seconds.
Her gold winning effort remained 3.61 seconds faster from Trott, who secured silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 8 minutes and 25.71 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Martina De Memme of Italy, who was almost eleven seconds apart and made her way to the finishing end as third best finisher by producing a time of 8 minutes and 36.67 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Martina Rita Caramignoli of Italy, who stayed nearly three seconds slower from overpowering the third position holder with an effort of 8 minutes and 39.41 seconds.
Similarly, Caramignoli was trailed by Julia Hassler of Switzerland, who stayed almost three body lengths apart and made her way to the finishing blockade with the timing of 8 minutes and 42.77 seconds.
Sixth position of the 800m event was obtained by Irene de Biasi of Italy, who remained almost 2.40 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end with an effort of 8 minutes and 45.17 seconds.
De Biasi was trailed by Erica Musso of Italy, who stayed considerably slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 49.88 seconds for seventh position.
Eighth position of the discipline was obtained Judith Stap of Netherlands, who stayed 0.80 seconds away and ended her swim in a time of 8 minutes and 50.68 seconds.
The championship ended after the session while winners raked medals for their noteworthy efforts at the prize ceremony of the tournament.
